Shelf Road

Shelf Road, just outside canon city Colorado, is the resolute of the sport climbing explosion the swept the U.S. in the 80's and 90's producing some of the best and hardest sport climbs in the state. Made up of many different cliff bands facing many different directions it is possible to climb there year round. We planed a four day trip for the beginning of January but, unfortunately we were snowed out the last day. The three days that we did have however, where nothing short of perfect.
here's some of the highlights/pictures.

There you have it, pretty amazing place.

Eldo-rad-o

when you first think "lets go climb in eldo to day" most people probably think, Trad, which for good reason is very true. Eldorado is one of the best trad climbing areas in the good state of Colorado. But, there's more to the golden city of trad then the perfect looking craks every where you look. when you first enter the canyon your eyes are emidatly drawn upwards to the towering cliffs on eather side of you. But, if you follow the beautiful cracks back down to ground level we also realize that this sacred land of awasome crack climbing is also blessed with amazing bouldering as well. Slab, Face, Roof, Highball, Lowball, Perfect landing, Scary landing what ever you are in to eldo has got just enough and a little bit more to stisfy anyone and everyone. so here are some pics of the perfect sandstone blocks in Eldorado Canyon.
